I am looking for a game like lord of the realms.

you know it has a map with it being broken up into pieces. I really liked was having the farm on the land having to choose between which farm lands and other things (cows and wheat). I enjoyed the combat asspect but I really dont care how much that changed.

But this time I want one that has buildings if possible. Where you can choose what you build and so on and that increases food or military

Something like Civilization but also more twords Lord of the realms 2.

I really hope this made sense.

I really enjoy Real time strategys and I want to find some new ones I havent tried yet. (the RTS where you build and have armies and so on)

I have settlers 7 and lord of the realms 3 really stunk. I want to try a new style one that has the map infront of you like lotr 2 had then you could choose a few things.

Now supreme commander is def one I have to try. I got it a little while ago but still havent played it. It may sound wierd but I will buy a game and I may not play it till I get in the mood for it.

as For settlers 7 thats a good game but seems way to easy. Its like a walkthrough while you do it.

Knights of Honor is a pretty cool game that is basically what you're asking for.

Check out the youtube clicks, it's basically Total War in real time, so it's not so much Age of Empires as it is Civilization.

I really liked the concept and it was executed well, but the graphics are...well dated is being nice.
The developer was bought by Crytek in 2008, but no news on what they're doing or anything. :(

These are all I am aware of right now. :(

The lack of titles like Knights of Honor basically made me lose my interest in Strategy gaming because it's all just either total war with turn based campaigns, or civilization where it's all turn based, or starcraft which is for caffeine addicts.

Supreme Commander is generic, and there's no other real time strat game that lets you get such a grip as Knights of Honor does. There's a free demo where you can get a feel for the depth--some of it is a bit deep, and tactically, there are a lot of units to choose from.

Settlers 7 has some nice graphics, but they call it a RTS--it only has like three different types of units to choose from...how is that an RTS??

Here's a turnbased game I am kinda looking forward to. It's http://pc.ign.com/articles/107/1079424p1.html]Elemental War of Magic

Very nerdy title for something that looks very well conceived.

I was a huge LOTR 1 & 2 fan , the closest i have found that has somewhat the same look & feel are the Medieval Total War Series. ( Medieval 2 was the best imo ).

It is a little more massive than LOTR though , but for turn based strategy games i've never seen that as a flaw.

Its basically lords of the realm on steroids. you can build buildings on each of your provinces (ala civilization) that improve economics , military etc... the battles look great also.

what are you guys talking about when you say "LotR 1 & 2"

Are you referring to Battle for Middle Earth 1 & 2? Those games were horrid.

The OP asked for games similar to Lords of the Realm

Lords of the Realm = LotR in this thread.

i know the acronym is mostly used for lord of the rings , but given the thread title and question the OP asked , didnt think anyone would need clarification on what i meant with LotR.

This may be getting far off the track of what you are looking for, but something that is similar to settlers 7, but far superior IMO opinion is Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery). I played Settlers 7 just a few weeks ago and just couldn't quite learn to really like the game, despite frequently losing track of 3 or 4 hours while playing. The major turn offs was the worst voice acting I have ever heard in my life and the lack of control on what the dumbass villagers spent their time doing.
