Looking for free, easy HD cloning software

I've got a simple situation: a 10GB HDD that I have spend hours (more like days) getting just the way I want it. I need more storage, and 2 hard drives won't work. I need to clone the old stuff onto the new one (files as well as OS, settings, apps, etc), I just need the extra storage on a bigger drive.

Google searches turn up nothing but HDClone and some other junk. From reviews, sounds like I should avoid it.


First question, what is some good freeware?

Next question, can somebody quickly walk me through the process? I'd appreciate it.

The manufacturer of the new hard drive should provide software to you (via their website) to perform this kind of operation.

Check Out Acronis True Image. The trial version is fully functional and it's pretty straight forward to use.

What make is the new drive ? ?
I know Western Digital has free software
you can use to move over to the new drive.
Seagate should as well. TruImage will work
but it is a large download and would need to
be put on a cd

Thanks for the tips, I'll check those out. I got the HDD from a thrift store, so no luck on any included software.

Both drives are WD.

That is true. But it also is easily downloaded for free at the drive maker's websites.
