Looking for FPS RPG's

There's only a handful of games that fit the scenario you describe (upgradable weaponry and armor, real-world based firearms).

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. does it the best, and you've already played it.

It's a shame nobody is developing games like that anymore.

The Stalker series should fit into the OP's remit.

Inventory system, basic loot system, different weapons (I seem to recall mods too)... plus they're pretty good games in their own right before adding in the solid modding community behind them.

It could be argued that to an extent, Planetside 2 has RPG elements. You can choose a soldier type to specialize in and also certain vehicles. (Some people like to be medics, some fighters, some engineers, some pilots, some tank drivers, etc.)

[general troll post pointing out how FPSs and RPGs do not mix]

except STALKER

I loved dead space 1/2 but not sure how they relate to rpg .

The weapon upgrades. It definitely RPG lite if you have to label it but I suppose the connection can be made. Its somewhat in line with what the OP is looking for.

If he's already done Borderlands, Stalker, and Mass Effect, there's not anything else recent without stretching the mechanics a bit. Fallout and Deus Ex have been mentioned as well. Anything else and you're moving into different territory, as he's largely exhausted the style he seems to be looking for.

It has no RPG elements or weapons customization, but it does have weapons upgrading and is a FPS:

Medal of Honor: Airborne

Guys, Blacklight Retribution, F2P shootie gamey thingie has some experience-game gold based advancement such as levels, unlocks, customization, unique weapons, etc ...

great game, i plays it all the time, the more the merrier.

I remember in Hellgate: London you could play as a range character which basically turns the game into a FPS with RPG elements in it
