Looking for EZ: DVD/VCD to AVI/WMV ripping program

I'm looking for a quick, and easy video converter to convert some home DVDs into editable clips.

I took my nepthews to swim with some dolphins last year and we got this dvd with all of this content and I'd really like to be able to snatch it off there and get it on my PC as painlessly as possible. This as well as x-mas's and other family events that in over the years I have created DVD's over. Now its started to get cluttered. I could put 4/5 DVDs together and edit the footage.

I don't need any super fine tuning options, I'd prefer some basic layout ripping program. Any suggestions before I go shopping?
 
Well sure, I mean I just thought I'd come here and ask quick instead of having to wait longer for a reply over at their forums. Appears as though I guess I'll have to go there since no one has a favorite ripping program at atot..
