Was reading my latest copy of wired mag and stumbled apon this.

Thought it was interesting...

Now, scientists at the SETI Institute, the University of California's Berkeley and Santa Cruz campuses and the Lick Observatory have expanded their search to include a hunt for fleeting flashes of laser light.
 
they use the optical SETI project for this, but it has even more restrictions than the radio SETI to find ET.
