Hey guys. Im looking for a dvr for some relatives of mine to replace what they are using now. originally their VCR broke and they lisened to my sister and bought a dvr but this things been a lemon from day one. (it won't even recognize dvd's from the manufacturers own line of dvd's...) They are an elderly couple who just wants it to record there daily portuguese soap opera. So something thats really easy to use and maybe even erase itself if its full to get in another episode would be great. As it is now i go to their house weekly to erase the disk. Was hoping you guys would be able to help me find soemthing for them. Thx in advance

What are you talking about? A DVR uses a hard drive, not DVDs. The easiest and most straightforwardly functional one is the Tivo (series 2 for SD, series 3 or "Tivo HD" for HD). Or you could get one from their cable company, but those tend to be temperamental and slow.

Honestly, they'd be better off with an actual DVR. Not having to manage media makes a night and day difference.

If they are using OTA only, you may also want to consider the Dish Network DTV Pal DVR....if they have cable then pass on it.
