I am fascinated by the early 20th century;
There's something about that time period that really grabs my attention.

Do you folks know of any great documentaries or books (fiction or non-fiction) that catalog this period well?

Looking for <1940's

I can't get enough of the roaring 20's, WW1, NY, the great depression, Citizen Kane, early film, etc

If you want to go 5-15 years before 1900, The Devil in the White City, by Erik Larson, is a great book about the 1893 Columbian Exposition (Chicago World's Fair). Covers two big people - the infamous serial killer, H.H. Holmes, and the builder of the fair, Daniel Burnham.
