Looking for DVD creator software

I'm about to buy a digital camcorder and would like to know what kind of software is out there that I can port HD videos into and make DVDs? And another question. What kind of software can you use to edit HD videos and keep the resolution to upload to YouTube? Thanks!g

PS. Something easy to use. I tried Sony Vegas and there was a steep learning curve.

I join my flip UltraHD 720p clips with Allok Video Joiner, you can pick mkv or mp4.

Then to burn the above for regular def DVD I use VSO ConvertXtoDVD.

For 720p or 1080p AVC mp4 burnt onto a regular DVD to play on Blu Ray players I use Sothink HD Movie Maker.

Other ppl probably have a better all in 1 solution or free solution though.

Hmm, I always thought it was a capacity issue. Looks like I'll have to convert to a smaller resolution then when recording onto DVD.

You can put a file on a DVD, with something like CDBurnerXP, but you cannot author a DVD which will play in a DVD Player.

I don't have a Blueray player or a Blueray burnner. Can you put HD videos on a DVD?

No HD on a regular DVD player.
But you can burn hd video on a regular dvd as long as it is in AVC format to play on a blu ray player.
That is how I burn 720p family video on a regular DVD to play on a blu ray player.

the good stuff has a steep learning curve.

I personally like DVDlab Pro for authoring the dvd.

for a more all-in-one solution there is Nero, Roxio and similar products. Hell even Windows Movie Maker or whatever they are calling it can do pretty good stuff.

Most of the videos I edit are mpeg2 so I use Womble MPEGvcr. If you need to demux a video you can use virtualdub-mpeg2. You can even remaster the audio or convert it to AC3 or MP3 for authoring as most of those programs can mux the movie back together. You will obviously need a sound editing program. Nero has one. Or use Sony Sound Forge.

It all depends on how serious you want get with this.

Okay, this is the camera I got a JVC GZ-HM30 http://camcorders.about.com/od/buyingguide/a/Jvc-Everio-Gz-Hm30-Overview.htm

It looks like the camera takes MPEG4, is Womble MPEGvcr going to work?

So I guess I will be converting my MPEG4's to AVC?

probably not.

use Freemake Video Convertor to convert it to whatever format you want. Its a free program.

I am not aware of any free video editing software. Although some trial versions will let you use all the features, most only give you limited functionality.

you can burn a small HD video to a dvd as a data file and play it with software on your PC assuming you have HDMI cable and a HD TV.

Why no one could explain to OP video format(s)?
DVD - 480 max...
HD - 720/1080...no DVD is HD...

And..why DVD?

If you record something on HD camcorder, get Media Player that can play HD Video, not Blue-Ray.

My few years old Argosy Media Player plays HD Video just fine...
What 's the need to burn DVD and watch on BD player?

Plus, if you have recorded anything with HD Camcorder, just transfer to USB stic and plug into ur TV USB...if you want to watch HD...

Burning HD AVCHD on cheap $0.25 regular DVD's is for all the extended family members and friends that ask for or may want copies, that are especially not tech savvy short of owning a blu-ray player or iPad.
Of course you will archive everything yourself or can direct plug in and view yourself.

We don't own a newer TV yet, no Blue-ray players either. In fact the camera is a technological step up. LOL

According to JVC's web site I can burn the MPEG4 video to DVD. If I understand that. I just want to be able to archive footage to DVD and not keep clips on the computer.

That looks really good! Downloading now. Now all I need is a good video editor that can edit MPEG4 videos. The key here is to keep HD quality for YouTube and Facefreak. LOL

Okay, I successfully took a MSF raw camera file and converted it to MP4 and used DVD Flick to make the files, trouble is how do you burn to disk now? Which files??? In the DVD folder (Shown at top in image) there is a Audio_TS and a Video_TS folder respectively. Inside the Video_TS folder is the VOB video file. Attached is an image of all the folders that were created for the video clip.

I know VOB files are DVD files but do I have to burn all this to DVD? And what software to use to burn to DVD? Nero? Please give me step by step instructions.

yes, you need to burn all those files in the video_ts folder.

DVD flick is an authoring program. It can create the menu structures needed to make fancy dvd movies.

I am sure it has tutorials and help files either in it or at its website under support or something like that.

DVD Flick includes IMGBurn so just go into the settings and select "Create ISO" or "Burn to disc"
