Looking for dual Athlon 64 motherboard

Are there any motherboards with dual socket 939? Or is there only dual socket 940? I'm looking for a board where I can use dual Athlon 64 CPUs without needing registered RAM DIMMs. Are there any NFORCE 4 chipset motherboards with dual socket 939?

There can't be "dual socket 939" -- Only Opteron 2XX and 8XX CPUs (which are on Socket940) have the coherent HT links needed for MP operation.

The memory controller on all A64-based CPUs is in the CPU. Opterons (AFAIK) require registered RAM, regardless of motherboard.

Yeh, there are no dual 939 motherboards as the 939 CPUs have no coherent hypertransport links.

There are some dual 940 motherboards powered by the nForce4 220/240 (if I remember the numbers right). As said by Matthias99 its the CPU that dedicates the memory requirement. To be honest I don't know alot about regestered memory but there must be a reason AMD still use regestered memory for their MP systems.

Hope that clears some of it up

Than how will dual core socket 939 Athlon 64 CPUs work? When are dual core Athlon 64 CPUs coming out? Is it worth the wait, or should I just go with a single core Athlon 64, and forget about SMP? How important is SMP for gaming if you have a file downloading, and AV running in the background while playing a game? I know SMP won't help games by themselves, but it will help multitasking, and downloading a file while playing a game is multitasking?

If you've read a few articles, it's in the wind that the duel core CPUs will use the S939 mobo's of today.
