I tried a couple of directx 10 demos a few months back with vista and had no luck getting them to run. Has there been any progress since then?

Anyone know of any good Dx10 games or demos to try at this point?

My 8800 is getting impatient...

FYI, unless your 8800 is a GTX or an Ultra, don't expect very good framerates in DX10 games at this point :)

FYI
Warez = illegal software.
Demos/freeware are legal.

The term warez(pronounced "where's"), was around long before the term became common in the software industry. It was for many years used as slang for the word "hardware". As in goods or commodities.

i have a 2900xt and am playing both Lost Planet and Call Of Juarez --[pronounced Warez]

They are both "fair" games. LP is more spectacular graphically imo. i play it at 10x7 with everything maxed on my CRT using the DX10 pathway. Motion blur is impressive if overdone. You can also D/L the demos for each game and benchmark your system.

There is also CoH and BioShock is due next Tuesday for the most spectacular DX10 goodness yet. Will run OK on our systems.

Geez the dude asked a question, dont go all wolf blizter on him, its not like he was asking for amnesty for torrent downloaders........

If you already own Company of Heroes its worth loading the DX10 patch and giving it a go after tweaking with the settings a bit. You wont be able to crack everything and go like you usually do with a 8800 but with some tweaking I was able to get it to look better than dx9 and get playable framerates in all but the biggest maps near the end of the game. The last patch of that capcom 360 port lost planet was the first time I actually noticed a visual improvement without the 50 percent framerate hit the other dx10 patched games had. I have a fairly robust machine so your framerates may vary.

There is very little DX10 software out right now and the few games that do use it really don't allow DX10 to shine. I am not even certain if the 8800 will prove to be a bottleneck for the DX10 compared to the future cards with its technology. That has yet to be seen, but the DX10 world should show itself much better next year.

Dangit!! I can't get any directx 10 apps to work on my trail version of vista(5600).
Think i'll have to get a newer version. Glad to hear that there are at least a few dx10 applications available though. I think it'll be worth it to try these out. Thanks everyone.:)

i[pronounced Warez]
haha nice try :) It's pronounced wad-ez. I know because I lived 2 miles away from it for almost 5 years.
