Looking for a NIC for a desktop that has the option for VLAN tagging on the NIC port itself. Anyone know any off the top of their head that they would recommend? Thanks in advance.

Abridged version, need it for a setup in some layer 2 test setups. Also GVRP capability would be a + also.

I would assume any Intel server line NIC would do it. They shouldn't be too expensive.

nolovenohope, intel pro/1000MT. Basically any modern gigabit NIC does tag/untag in hardware.

eewwwww, RealTek :(

Intel Pro/1000MTs are $30-$40 street, and IMO a much better part. Broadcom based gigabit NICs are also good, though usually a bit more expensive. In my opinion, $10-$20 is not much more to spend to get a better quality piece of hardware and generally fewer driver headaches.

You can find lots of deals on eBay -- old server pulls, etc., for bringing the price down if you really want to. Some risk of course, but at these prices...
