Looking for decent digicam for 9 year old daughter

I'd like to get a decent digital camera for my daughter for Christmas but budget is tight. I'd like to keep price under $100. Any hot deals or recommendations?

Much appreciated

I'd say the Kodak CX6200. It's $75 from Amazon. 2MP, no zoom, uses SD cards. No frills, but picture quality is great for the price. Be careful with the under $100 cameras. A lot of them are glorified webcams and use a cheaper CMOS sensor instead of a CCD. Those are pure junk.

I checked Amazon - they appear to be out of stock. That looks like a decent camera for the $$ BTW... biggest con is no zoom - but it surely will beat that cheap 35mm snapshot camera she has.

Thisdoesn't seem likely to be possible...but for $83 if it is real then it can't really be beat. I just happened to see it on pricewatch...there's probably some reviews online somewhere

There's a long thread on FatWallet on the Olympus D-565. Apparently OfficeMax has an in store special of $129.99; it's $180 on their web site. If you could find one in stock, I think this would be a good deal.

Ok,

I found an HP 3.2 mp digicam with 3x optical zoom for $110 and after rebate it will be $80 - I think that is about as good as I'm going to find.

She uses mine and does ok with it (4 mp Canon Powershot S40) - besides, her film camera is kind of shi++ty and half her pictures should have been deleted if they were digital - now they can be. I have the feeling her mother will be borrowing it allot 😉
