Looking for decent cheap bass guitar

I will have a storage locker that I will be storing work stuff in for when I am in Houston. I like to practice while I am on the road, and am looking to buy a cheap bass guitar / amp combo. Any recommendations?

You could look into a mexican fender p-bass.

I play guitar, but my friends p-bass is pretty comfortable to play on.

I've got a Squier that's held up surprisingly well for more than a few years now. It was dirt cheap, but I'd recommend it if you want inexpensive+durable.

Get an SX Bass from Rondo Music. For about $120, I got one that sounds good and is ok to beat on. Definitely a good value in the cheap category.

this is one of the best basses for the money.. I have the silver one and it has an active EQ, pretty much unheard of at that price point. The pickups aren't the best but it's definitely a good bass for the cash. Tuning pegs rattle a bit but it doesn't translate in the amplified signal.

It plays and sounds better than the Charvel bass I used to have that cost twice as much.
