Looking for decent canalphones or earbuds

Ruptga

My old earbuds' wire is exposed where it connects to the jack, and I'm looking for a good replacement pair. Probably anything will be an improvement, the old ones came with a cheap mp3 player a few years ago, but they were pretty comfortable.

I'd prefer canalphones or whatever you call the ones that block outside noise, but in the end I don't really care as long as they work well and will hold up to a couple years' use.

cx300. the cable is a bit cheap but the sound is great for 20 IMO, better then others until your past £50.

Those are a bit over fifty bucks, but I think I can live with that though I would like to see if there are any other good offerings in this price range.

Both the Marshmallows and the Senns are for bass-heads. For a less pronounced bias try the Denon C351.

That's an interesting perspective. I don't really consider myself a "bass-head," nor do I find the bass unreasonably pronounced in the Marshmallows. What qualifies someone as a "bass-head"? I ask because I honestly do not know if I qualify.

I've not shopped a wide variety of in-the-ear phones, though, so I can't say how they might compare to others. The marshmallows make me happy, for what its worth, and I primarily listen to music from the likes of Tool, The Mars Volta, Deftones, RATM, etc...

The JVC HA-FX33s (marshmallows) are ok if you can replace the foam tips on them with rubber ones, otherwise they aren't all that comfortable. The sound on them is so-so. I have no idea what the "for bass-heads" comment was about. Maybe since I replaced the tips on mine it toned down the bass. At any rate, mp3 players have equalizers on them for a reason. As far as cheap ear buds go they are some of the best I have run into.

Always remember, the headphones are only as good as the media and player are. If you are listening to 96kbps audio streams on a junky mp3 player, the best headphones in the world aren't going to make a bit of difference.

head-fi.org is a forum for headphones and all things music, so you might want to take a look over there and see what those guys have to say.

Don't worry, the only time I listen to 96kbps is when it's internet radio, and only then because it's free.

I'm looking at that forum now, and it looks like the guys on there are more likely to own 500 dollar earphones than 50 dollar ones, but I'll see what they come up with.

I was curious if anyone had any alternatives (or find somewhere i can purchase) the headbanger audio universal earsubs.
Granted they're self-amplified but I prefer to listen to my music from them over any other cheap headphones in my price range.
