Looking for cordless phone

I'm looking for a new phone set (2-3 handset) to replace my older Uniden, but am looking for one that stops all wireless activity when not in use. Supposedly most of the DECT phones don't normally do this. This is even more important if the base is next to your bed. I remember reading about some awhile back but they were expensive odd-brand models. Does anyone know of any bigger name brands that do?

I do know some, like Panasonic, reduce the handset wireless signal when in use nearby the base, which is another feature I'd want.

FYI, I use OOMA. Please no cordless/home phone jokes.

I just replaced a Uniden system with a Panasonic KX-TG4772 (base station and two handsets.) It is DECT. The base is in the kitchen, and at night I have a handset on the nightstand. So far, no disturbance. During the day, my handset goes with me - and the wife's with her. The base station is easy and the menu system intuitive. I'm considering adding another handset - supposedly easy to do. (KX-TGA470)

Panasonic says this about their DECT 6 phones: "Engineered to work in 1.9GHz frequency, our DECT 6.0 phones wont conflict with common wireless devices such as 2.4GHz routers, wireless keyboards and mice, microwave ovens and other household items."

Thanks but I'm not really concerned with interference. My main concern is my health, since the DECT phones put out a lot of RF, most are putting out RF 24/7, is placed right against the head, and most people put the base beside their bed.

For over 20 years I have always put the base unit for a cordless system near the middle of the house, i.e., the kitchen. The only thing we have in the bedroom is a standby handset. Can't remember the last time it rang after 10:00 PM. 🙂

I got a nice panasonic system. Works good, long battery life, all the features.
