Looking for cheap Crimpers

Do any of you guys know a place where my dad can buy cheap Ra45 cable crimpers that are good, like the IDEALS 30-696, (spelling)? He found one on ebay for 20 bucks is that too high?. Thanks.

I like the ones that are racheted. IE, they don't open till you fully close them. Outside of that requirement, for home networking where you're only doing a handful, any crimper will work.

Has he considered purchasing premade cables?

I bought the ratchet one from home depot and it cost almost $50 after tax and stuff. It work out pretty good until one of my friend borrowed it and didn't return it. :disgust:

I think Compgeeks always have one on sale with 1000' wire and rj45 ends for around $40.

You might want to check it out.

I got mine from Fry's for around $30. What I really need is a good tool to remove the outer jacket without nicking the inner wires. The self adjusting stripper I got doesn't do so well.

Go to fry's and get the ratcheted crimpers for 30-40 bucks. It may be a little more than what you wanna spend, but they work well. I had some chepo's from there and they broke after making ~20 cables.
