I will be doing quite a bit of snowboarding this winter and am even throwing some money down on a trip to Colorado for about a week of riding the slopes. On top of that I coach for my universities rowing team and could use a video recorder to record my athletes as I row.

What's a good, pocket sized camcorder that won't break the bank? I'm a student and most, if not all of my job money goes to rent.

I'd say $150 max.

If you can muster $30 more, I'd go with the Kodak Zi8 Pocket Camcorder. Compared to a lot of others in it's price range, there's a lot of value packed into it. Namely it supports true 1080/30p recording and has an SD slot.

Your other option for $150 is the Flip Video Ultra. It has 4gb of internal memory and records at 640x480, which they say provides 120min of record time. It has no SD slot so once it's full, it's full.

The Sony Webbie HD is also another option in the $150 range. Records at up to 1440x1080. It does have an SD slot though.
