Looking for boom box with light....

When I'm outside either working on the car or grilling, I used to always use this little Sony boom box my wife bought 15 years ago when she was in college. I would also prop up a halogen next to it so I could see what I was doing when the sun went down.

Unfortunately, I got the light too close to the boom box for too long of a period. I melted it.

I know I've seen these boom boxes with the lights built into them. But I've looked at Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy... I can't find them!

Anyone seen what I'm talking about?

I could just borrow the boom box I bought my wife to replace the other one (a Sony that can play MP3 files,) but if I melted that one I'd have to shoot myself. :p

move the light away from the boombox next time?

Haha.. Well, that's what's worked over the last DECADE, but it just got too close this last time. Having both in one unit would be a helluva lot more convenient.

Lights don't use up that much juice. Take those hand crank radio/lights for example. One minute of cranking gives you something like 20 minutes of light, but turn on the radio and it'll ony last for five minutes. Besides, I'd probably plug it in 90% of the time.

Use a cold light! Two words: Compact Fluorescent! Halogen lights get hot as you know...

You can cook most food on them! hahaha

Kind of hard to find a decent boom box or ghetto blaster as I hear them called out of the woods. You should find them at a pawn shop or guitar swap place. Have lots of those in the NE.

With a light in it.

It IS easy to find a decent boom box. I'd just go to Circuit City. Hell... I HAVE another one. That's not my point.

I'd like to get one with a light so I don't have to carry both around.

Jebus. I feel like a broken record.

When I was talking about melting the second box, I was being facetious.

Well if it wasn't such an odd request, you wouldn't have this problem. It's like asking for a toaster, with a screwdriver built in.

It's an odd request?

I thought it was pretty common. I thought there was a Jeep one out there or something.

Seriously... There was a Jeep brand one and it had a cage around it like the Bosch boom box, but it was REALLY expensive. I don't think they make it anymore.

Thanks flot.

That's the Jeep brand... but that's not what I was talking about really. The light is too small. I've got a Grundig for the hurricane season that's similar. I'm just looking for something like a boom-box with the light. Jeep had one, but I can't find it anywhere. I figured someone else had one too, if Jeep discontinued theirs. I seem to remember seeing a Makita or Millwaukee or one of the power tool manufacturers had one with a built in light too.
