Looking for best <$300 video card for gaming machine

Trying to build a decent machine for playing video games on a budget, so I want suggestions for the best card to buy for under $300. I'm not interested in spending $600 on a video card that I'll only use a few hours a week, but want the best I can get for the money I'm willing to spend on this machine. Suggestions for RAM/CPU/MOBO also welcome, total price around $800 or less

You should be able to get a 7800gt for right around $300.

I'm doing a build right now for about 800 in total using that card I'm just not sure wether I should spring for the GTOC or save the $30 and get the GT

PM Me if you need a little help I'm not a pro but I think I have been trying to do the same thing you are trying to do now

Some possibilities for you:

These prices are just from newegg, so I'm sure you could do better if you shopped around a little:

evga 9NPA+ Ultra $105
eVGA 7800gt $345
2x1gig OCZ value $212
A64 3000+ $142

Comes to $815 shipped for me.

or

replace ram w/ 1 gig corsair = $96
A64 3700+ $235

Comes to $793 shipped for me.
