You try sending a msg using the home page for SETI? Member search? Who knows how often he signs into the SETI page, but worth a shot. It's possible that a notification will show in the BOINC client, saying he has a message as well. Unless he's running command line, lol.

No luck finding out anything about "baxsie". I do not want to use any mod tools, preferring to honor his privacy, to reach him.

Hardly anyone knows (or uses) our Seti TeAm Forum courtesy berkley.edu: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_forum.php?id=363

Ha, I only just stumbled on it earlier in the week. A couple of you discovered it back in 2008. o_O

Probably, it's best to let well enough alone. My wish was to have him join his friends here and say hello.

I'll end this by just sending him our best wishes (if he ever drops by for a peek).

Hey. Thanks for the call-out.

We had some spare computers at work. We had upgraded the video cards in several of them so there was quite a bit of computing power that could be pressed into work on the SETI project.

The way I figure it, in the wintertime the extra heat generated by the computers crunching SETI units reduces the building heating bill by a similar amount. So it's about a wash.

However, summer is coming. And in that situation the extra energy put into the computers crunching SETI units makes the air conditioners work extra hard to pump that heat back out of the building. So I will probably let my concerns for global warming (and the corresponding increased expense of utility bills) override my desire to search for aliens once the weather warms up here.

It's just a little bit of fun.
