Looking for backlight leakage

Just got the 2005FPW and love it, no dead pixels; however, I have a question about looking for backlight leakage.

When I put up a completely black image on the LCD and turn off all the lights, I do see some slight leakage from the top. It also seems like there's leakage from the bottom corners, but when I look at them dead on, it's black...is that normal?

Also, if I look at the monitor from an angle, most of the whole screen is aglow (the same kind of glow that I see from the corners)...is that normal?

Thanks ahead for you comments.

i just prefer to look at lcds because there superior clarity and no flicker. also they are perfectly square and very bright (i can't fit a crt on my desk). but for games it ghosts.

I dont notice any blacklight leak on my 2005FPW. Yet I am not sure what to look for exactly, so it seems fine to me. Anyone can describe what I should look for?

as long as u dont see any blacklight it doesnt matter...

it is normal, it's just the viewing angles aren't wide enough, so a little contrast is lost in those areas when you aren't looking directly at them.

Hi

I'm doubting between the Dell 2005FPW and the new Apple 20" cinema display.
I would perfer the dell, as its cheaper and has more inputs.
But as I read on different forums that alot of people notice alot of backlight leakage on the screen, I'm a little worried.

So thats why I am doubting about getting the apple screen in stead. It does look stunning.

For reference Here in my country
Dell 2005 FPW : 588Euro
Apple 20 Cinema : 760Euro

Any advice?
