naich,
. With your new machine, you'll be able to scan your rebate materials - a lot simpler than snapping photos...

I do mostly black but a lot of it has spot color plus I do print out lots of color from my digicam and from web sources. Ink costs have not been significant on my Canon. So I'll be staying with inkjet. I've had only minimal clogging - just a couple of nozzles here and there. Saves considerably on energy costs over a laser too.

To thump553,

I do have an older canon MP730 multifunional inkjet which I refill. When I cost things out I figure I am printing at around a third of a cent in ink consumable costs using black and white text. Plus I can do very well in color printing.

The only thing one can say about a Laser is that it never clogs and tolerates frequent lack of use. But for some stupid reason consumers just seem to love to get ripped off in inkjet printing. Until consumers demand better--we will continue to be hosed.--ink jet is clearly a economical plus over a laser---and could really blow a Laser away on costs when and if manufacters build them from the ground up to be economical.

Yikes! I hope that isn't continuing on the new models. I guess I might keep my iP3000 for a while longer???

Their laser printer engine is still ok, but stay away from anything that use inkjet engine from Brother.
