Looking for an x5677

Anyone know where I might find a source for a couple of x5677 that would have them in stock for a reasonable price? I can't seem to find these chips via my usual sources.

u wont find them reasonable because there:

1. Intel
2. One of the top 32nm Quadcore with 12Meg Cache.
3. Its an X series... so it means 2x QPI = Not reasonably priced again.

Try again in 6 months.. then you might find them "normal" priced.
But even i had a hell of a time finding 1.

OK then, how about even at an unreasonable price? I've seen prices in the $1800 range but no one seems to have them in stock. I have been able to get the x5680s but I'd really like to try out a couple of the x5677s. -- Bud

Unless u know a OEM vendor like Dell, or HP, its going to be hard.

As i said, OEM's get the first lot, and there grabbing all the westmere's they can.

The X5680 is a hexcore, and the X5677 is a quadcore, you do know that right?

Your best off getting 2 X5680's because if ur ever bored, you can grab an eVGA SR-2 and overclock those monsters to around 4-4.2

Then you would have a overclocked 12core / 24thread machine which would be extremely scary.

Yep. The interesting thing is that the x5680 is available as a retail boxed chip and the x5677 isn't. I suspect that's why the normal channels don't stock them. I wonder why intel didn't release the x5677s in a retail box?

Maybe they are all going to Apple. I do see HP has a workstation for $9K with dual x5677s but other than that, I haven't seen many offerings.

Bingo.

And Dell, and HP.

And reason why there not fully available yet is probably because intel has no rush in getting them out to the consumer channels.
Instead there milking all the OEM's so AMD has little to no room to come in though OEM channels.
