Pick up a ~ 3lb. Dell Latitude LS off of eBay for under $300 shipped since all you need is a lightweight internet machine.

Its a bit expensive. Sony S series if I recall correctly has a model like that as well.

The S series is over 4 lbs but not by much. The Sony T-Series weighs 3lbs, but it's way more than it's worth.

Averatec as a notebook that looks like the older T series for not that much.

One thing to keep in mind is that Averatec will_not sell you replacement parts. They require you to send the notebook in to their depot.

Having owned one, I suggest the HP Omnibook 500. All it lacks in built-in WiFi.

although it is just slighltly over 4 lbs ( i think 4 lbs 1 ounce) the dell 700m is a great laptop. if you can wait till another $750 off deals comes around, you could pick one up for about $700 dollars. i got mine this past week and love it, and i have the bigger battery and still think it is light, plus the true life or whatever they call it screen is very very nice.
