Looking for an overclockable dual-socket 1366 motherboard.

Yup, you read that right. I have to admit, I don't know a whole lot about server motherboards/chipsets and what they're capable of. I'm helping a dude build an epic video/3d animaiton/gaming rig that will be overclocked. The best CPU option I could think of was Xeon L5640's. Those are 2.26GHz, 60W, Hexacore models, so I figure the results should be awesome. But, I have no idea what dual-socket motherboards are good at overclocking. I was looking at this, for the PCIe slots-

But that doesn't seem like something that's made to OC. Halp?

Also, E-ATX server boards will work with an ATX PSU, right?

That EVGA one is perfect! The gut has a LOT of money ($10k 😱) to work with, so it's well within budget. Thanks guys!

Haha, believe me, he is. So far we're looking at the aforementioned cpu's, some sort of quad GPU setup (probably dual 5970's), possible liquid cooling, a SSD AND a 2tb RAID1 array, G-skill Pi RAM, blu-ray burner...the works. That mobo even fits with the red/black color scheme he's after.

LOL,
Is that suppose to be a lot of money? After $600 for the motherboard, than two CPU'S(it will run with only one) say $700.00 each and a case to fit it in Mountain mods say $600 to be safe. Oh he wants GPU'S too right two 5970's lol $1500, a PSU (Behemoth) $600 all day. Ram $450.00 your well over $5000 right now............ Now SSD'S and water cooling too!

$5000 is still only half the budget, and there'd only be one SSD, and no water cooling. The CPU's are ~$1000 each, though. The dude has more than enough for this.

Well over 5K, then water blocks, pump/s loops, hose, res,Rad's, is he going with one loop or two? It's adding up very fast is all i was saying, post some photo's for the picture monsters.

What case is he/you going with?

Just a thought : imagine a leaking hose in that system.

Thats alot of money going down the drain.

I can imagine how cool it is to build such a monster, but its a waste of money.

Maybe he should consider this option:
Main workstation : a single cpu hexacore and ati 5970 for his workstation
With the rest of his budget, see how much machines you can buy with i7 quad cpu's, using just onboard video, simple cheap cases etc ...

Now he can:
- run his games just as good as on the much more expensive machine
- continue working on a powerfull i7 hexacore machine while rendering on the i7 renderfarm.
