Looking for an open source project to get involved in

CSCI grad but im out of practice and working on a help desk now :-/


Any suggestions on open source projects I can get involved in, or what language I should try to focus on to get a start with my career somewhere (Making 50k a year + good benefits at my current job and hoping to find an equivalent paying programming job instead_)
