Looking for an OLD OLD OLD DOS game

Is there a website around that has a listing of DOS games with screen shots?

I remember a game I played with a friend...I never beat it and I thought at the time it was a lot of fun...

I don't recall a lot of specifics about the game only that you were a guy (knight / warrior) in an age kind of like "Braveheart"

And I recall a village and always having to do battle with a wolf...

Anyways I was hoping I could find a site that had a listing of game names and even better yet...game names with screen shots so I might find it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Lee

I've been trying to remember the name of a game I played as a kid. Mid-late 80s, AppleIIe maybe. You run around a town collecting dollar bills, and you can get mugged. That's all I remember.

rags 2 riches

Good guess, it fit my description exactly, but that's not it. I keep thinking it's Payday or Paycheck or something. Your character sprite is small relative to the screen and the town is almost like a labyrinth. I'll probably never find it, but I really have no interest in playing it so whatever :)

Wholly crap, that emulator seems awesome. I don't think it's Vista compatible however.

That list is great, but where can you find all those games anymore?

Now, if someone could just help me find that adventure game that had H.R. Geiger design...

Not sure if you are referring about dosbox being compatible with vista or some other emulator...

I ran dosbox 0.72 last night after I found the game I was looking for and it was smooth as warm butter...

This. When you say "OLD OLD OLD" it had better be at least pre-1990. :p

Yeah, I was thinking of some text based dos game and then I clicked on the link and it's fricking 3D! Crappy 3d, but still 3D.

Old dos games are text based adventures by the likes of infocom. No graphics at all. They were really fun to play though.

Estatica was FUN, I hated the damn Wearwolf tho lol. I remember one time standing there fighting him for like 20 minutes before I realized you can't kill him (not at that point in the game any ways) for the time the graphics were AWESOME, the animation was great and it had some challenging combat. I liked getting captured and having the monster beat on me while I was hanging upside down.

They made a few sequels, I never played either but both got good reviews.

ha ha ha I had the SAME exact thing going on for me when I played this game...from what I can remember of it...

I had the same encounter with that wolf...I did a Mike Tyson punchout with him for a long stretch...waiting...and waiting for him to go down...and finally was like F-THIS!!!!

I don't recall ever beating the game which is why I thought of it the other day and prompted this post...

I should have said in my post "My FIRST DOS Game" vs. OLD OLD OLD...I was about 17 when this first came out...I think the only other game I played before this was SimCity...

Nein. If you were a gamer pre 1990 the shiznit computer was the IBM Personal System 2. It had MCGA graphics, 128k of memory, a 3.5 inch disk drive, and, wait for it, a built in hard drive in later models (I think it was 20 megabytes). Sold for ~3.5k in 1988.

Well, not me, I had an "IBM Clone", the Compaq Deskpro. I wanted an Amiga some kind of bad but my Dad said it wasn't a "serious computer", and as far as he was concerned, the Apple was a computer invented by dirty hippies and he wanted nothing to do with it.

Yes, Dad was (and is) a bit different. I am aware of this.

So I had lots of old DOS games: Starflight, GATO, Sopwith, etc. etc.
