As I am working for my Bachelor of Science in Technology, I am looking to gain some experience as an intern for a valuable company in the Houston area. My problem is I don't know where to start looking. Any advice and guidance that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

University career fairs, university career center. I think they are your best bet and would be a way way better chance than firing off your resume online to various places. Unless you and/or your academics are fucked, I think you have a very good chance of landing at least one internship offer after a career fair.

What the fuck is a BS in Technology?

Exactly what it sounds like. BS in Technology.

Which is what exactly? Does he learn programming? Engineering? IT?

Missed my joke, eh?

Pretty much, Yeah.

Yeah, he's trying to be cute. For those actually curious, the "in Technology" portion of the BS means that a major portion of the BS degree plan was Technology courses, and in my case Manufacturing Technology courses. Classes like quality assurance, materials engineering, material selection, materials removal, facilities design, ergonomics, industrial design, etc.

Anyways, I know know about the University internship fairs. I'm looking for more out of the box solutions that my get me a foot in the door a little easier.

I got my internship by having a friend's uncle pass my resume along to my current company. Just sending a resume in with a nice cover letter to some companies you would be interested in can't hurt.

I think your best bet is to call each company. It costs money to search for interns and posting online, etc, so just call the HR or hiring manager to see if they're hiring.

Go to a career fair, talk with employers, and hand out your resume. Your college's career center probably has something set up to assist you as well.

Start with your school's career center. Also, check out companies you'd like to be working for when you graduate. Visit their websites and looking under the career sections; many websites of large companies have areas specifically for students looking for an internship.
