Looking for an ideal gaming motherboard

I'm putting together a new computer and I'm a pretty avid gamer so this computer is definitely aimed towards the games. I'm throwing in an Athlon 64 4000+, 2 X 1GB OCZ Platinum RAM, a 7800GTX, 2 hard drives in RAID 0, and a Sound Blaster X-Fi. I might do a little bit of overclocking, but probably nothing insane.

So, I've looked around and liked the DFI Ultra-D and the Asus A8N SLI Premium. I'm, of course, looking for stability and speed so if anyone has recommendations for boards that are out or that are coming out in the next month or so, that'd be helpful.

I'm considering getting 2 of whatever the next gen video cards next year are and getting an X2 processor next year when the prices go down a bit, so would it be wise to get a board that fits my current needs and buy another mobo down the road should I decide to do that stuff, or should I future proof and get the best current motherboard I can get?

Asus is the gaming board. Rock solid, and sum tweaking options. Not the overclocking that the DFI offers, but rock solid.

Only issue I have is that a lot of people have claimed to have problems with a variety of parts... especially RAM... am I just paranoid, or are there really some major problems with the board?

It's hard to beat the Ultra-D. If you're serious about SLI you might consider a 2X16 pcie board. Don't forget an azz kickin' PSU.

I wouldn't be going SLI till next year, but for now I'm pretty much positive I'm sticking with this power supply.

As far as the mobo goes, I'm definitely grabbing the Ultra-D now. It saves me money off of an SLI board. If I do go SLI next year, I can grab another board then and get some new features in the process... so for now, the Ultra-D seems perfect.

And I'm definitely gonna overclock after some research I did.

You can probably mod that DFI board to an SLI and not have to get a new board when\if you add another card for SLI.
