I have some dim users that we would like to off-load 'technical' work from. I use technical lightly. basically, I need an easy (autometed) way to scan and save documents to a folder.

Easy would be the user loads the scanner and hits a scan button on the scanner. End of task.

Hard would be looading the scanner, walking to PC, opening scanning software, scanning document, saving document to a folder, close software. End of task

Basically, I am looking for a scanner/software combo that would open, load the scanned image and save to a folder automatically without user input beyond hit a scan button.

My old cheap Epson has a button you press to scan, but a window pops up so you can rename the file, choose the format you want to save it in and the compression if the format allows. Then you can choose the folder to save in. I've not deeply looked into further automation as I can handle those few steps easily enough, but more may be possible. The new ones may have more automation as a starting point.

I found the Canon Lide 90. I read up on it a little bit and found this to be adequate. It does have "one touch" capabilites but it opens a couple windows. The good part is the users can keep scanning more documents without having to close the open windows.

So it worls ok for now but I need at least one maybe two more scanners and hope I can find a better solution.
