I used to have this little desktop proggy called "Smartburn."

Basically, you put any blank CDR/CDRW in your burner, click the Smartburn icon and the proggy does some kind of check on the media and reports to you "Max burn speed of 40x" or whatever.

It was never wrong. I never copied the proggy before wiping. :(

I Googled for it, but only came up w/references to LiteOn drives.

Anybody got this proggy/link to it, please?

Thanks Codewiz! That is it. I searched for "Smart Burn Software" and found nothing. I appreciate it. This little proggy is pretty useful, you should check it out.

It's great when you have an unknown CDR and need to know how fast you can burn it. I haven't burned a coaster using this check proggy. :

Glad you found your proggy, MichaelD.

The reason you were getting Lite-On stuff is because one of the Coaster Protection shcemes is SmartBurn. It is the same as SafeBurn and Burn Proof.
