Looking for AMD and ATi in customizable laptop?

I've been shopping for a laptop and almost picked up an Inspiron 9300. But I've been hoping for an AMD/ATi combination.

Also, I'd prefer to be able to have customization option before I buy. For example, most laptop/notebooks come with stock <=512 MB and I really prefer 1GB+.

Does anyone know of vendors that carry laptops you can built- to-suit with AMD and ATi?

I'm in the $1500 range.

Thanks!

As of now, the only customizable options I know of are the Asus Z81K and Z80K, which are available to customize here. As can be seen, the Z81K is currently backordered at Geared2Play, but you can still get the Z80K (no widescreen).

Intel's mobile chips are much better than their desktops'. A Pentium M is actually comparable to an Athlon 64, and they have a much lower TDP, which give them more battery life than A64's.

Yes, but I'm a sucker for the underdogs. :)

I'd like to do what little I can to keep the competition alive.

Appreciate the input though.

Cheers.
