I can't find the VF3000 either, although we've a sample in our office.

You could also try the thermalright HR-03 GT, but you will also have to buy vrm-cooling, and it won't be cheap ...

Weird though, the cooler shouldn't actually be that loud, only under load will it spin up, but not even that much ...

Does it get louder when you play games or is it the same all the time?

It's odd that you'd describe it as soo loud like that, most people say they are rather quiet. Is it the reference cooler?

well right now the fan speed is on default which is according to GPU-Z is 21%. but i usually like to turn up the fan speed to about 40% but at that speed it is way too loud. iv taken a look at thermalright but to spend $100 is crazy and im not sure if i will have room for that. My case is an Antec 900. Arctic cooling has one but i also havent seen it online.

on default the noise is quiet but i like to turn up the fan speed a little higher. my gtx260 was pretty quiet at 50%.

hah mine died for some reason before I could do extensive testing on it. I have sent it back to XFX for an RMA (took me long enough to do that), will see what they do about it.

Yeah they got my card and handed it over to the RMA dept, keeping my fingers crossed...
The heatplate was quite easy to take off, just a few screws (like 6-7 I think) on the bottomside of the cooler, and two more on the PCI-e bracket to unscrew. With my card though, the circular turbine thingy was kinda hard to unscrew(has 3 separate screws of its own). Other than that, nothing out of ordinary.
