Hey guys -- New to the forum

I've got a question regarding my PC specs and Vid card
(I built my PC but don't really understand everything to a tee)

I want to run BF3, Skyrim and any other up and coming games that may be GPU intensive -- on a decently high quality

Here are my specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Memory: 8192MB RAM

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Display Memory: 4071 MB
Dedicated Memory: 999 MB
Shared Memory: 3071 MB

PSU = 600w

I understand that my GPU is slightly out of date and am ready to purchase a new one. I've visited the Benchmark videocard site and saw that the GTX 580, 570, and 480 are top rated. Which would I benefit from the most? Is the 480 a big step down from the 580? Will my PSU support these cards?

Thanks a ton for the help ^_^

Avoid the 480 and 470 - they are hot and loud.

The 570 is equivalent to the 480, but runs much more efficiently.

What is your screen resolution? If you game at 2560 you will need a 580 for BF3, otherwise a 570 saves you a lot of cash and still gives you top notch performance.

I'd say go for the GTX 570 then. The extra performance and 256mb of memory over the GTX 560 Ti will give you more longevity, which seeing as you still have a 9800GT you will need. Of course the same can be said for the 580 over the 570, but that's quite a lot of cash.

What do you guys think of the 570Ti?

Pros and cons?

Any links to articles comparing all these cards?

Thanks.

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/arti...e-Power-Plus-600-W-Power-Supply-Review/1034/7

It was not able to regulate +12V according to ATX spec, after reaching 80% load. And the efficiency is pretty low and it doesn't have active PFC. It'll generate a lot of waste heat at high loads, and:

We know that this is a very low-end power supply, but this doesn’t give the manufacturer the right to lie. This unit should be labeled as a 450 W unit and sold for half of its price. If you pull more than 450 W from this product, it will offer real risk to your computer

NVIDIA recommends minimum 550W for a GTX 570. There's no way I'd be comfortable on this PSU with an expensive 200 watt GPU, I'd rather put a chunk of my GPU budget towards a new, good quality PSU.

Yea I will be upgrading my PSU.. not a problem.

Is my Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz going to create a bottleneck for a GTX570?

a 760 should be fine for now, its still a good quad core.It may not be a sandy bridge, but the lyynfields can overclock pretty well still, if you want to look into that.
