Looking to get into a new PC. I want as much power as cheap as i can. Im sure ill be gaming on it, even though i want it for work stuff.

So far i took a look around and found a 500 dollar gaming PC article on firing squad a while back. Its from november, but the prices are right and the power seems ok. What do you all think ?

It's not terrible, but it's not that great. I think you could do better in your price range. I take it from your post that you don't need all the components? A list of what parts you're reusing and the most you're willing to spend would be very helpful.

(In other words, answer the questions in the sticky.)

Ahh there is the sticky. Sorry for being a n00b.

PLEASE when POST threads asking for input on system builds tell us...

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

I want to get online business going, sites basically concerning tech support and the like and really just delve into that world. So photoshop and dreamweaver im sure will be used on a dual monitor system. Also gaming. A few MMO's here and there im sure or something. I dont need to run crysis at max res with max frames. Just playable and not on the lowest settings.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

Well for the parts i need i dont want to spend more then 3 hundred ish. I can go a little higher, but i cant stress enough how tight of a budget im on.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

I live in the USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

The best parts for the best price. I like to stick with name brands though, just for safety. If its not a MSI ASUS ABIT etc, ill be a little nervous, unless it comes with high recommendations.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Ill be using a Tsunami Themaltake case and 450w power supply. Also a 7900sg nvida video card.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yea but i didnt see anything on this budget. I might not have searched the right terms, but google or search didnt make me feel comfortable when i got to newegg.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

If i can, but its low priority.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

As soon as the parts come in the mail.

That's a micro ATX motherboard... make sure you have a micro ATX case. I almost made the same mistake, I was looking up motherboards and almost ordered one before I realized it was a micro ATX type.... oops!

Most ATX cases have the correct mounts for MicroATX boards as well. Something to double-check, but it shouldn't be an issue for him.
