I want to build a new PC for general use and casual gaming. I want to be able to play current popular titles on at least medium settings such as COD: Modern Warfare, Borderlands 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, etc. I want to build a system that will last 4-5 years. My budget with tax included is around $900. I already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse. I have no plans for overclocking and plan on buying my parts in either the US or Canada.

Components I am considering:

CPU
-Ryzen 5 3600 ($200)

RAM
-G.Skill Ripjaws V Series (2 x 8GB) ($69)

Storage

-Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 ($100)
(-I'm not sure if I should get a smaller 256GB M.2 drive ($44) for the OS and then get a 1TB SSD or just stick with this 1TB M.2 Intel Drive?)

Motherboard
-not sure if I should go with a B450 Tomahawk MOBO for around ($115) or get the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus MOBO ($170) for the PCIe 4.0 slot (couldn't future video cards take advantage of the extra bandwith of the PCIe 4.0 slot?)

GPU (definitely Nvidia)
Used 1070 off Ebay for around ($210)

PSU
Seasonic SSR-750FX gold rated full modular ($110)
-this is more power than needed but I figure for about $10 more, I might as well go for the extra 100W vs the 650W version of this PSU

Cases I'm considering
(I'd prefer a case with a DVD drive and don't care about tempered glass and RGB lighting. However, if there is a case without a DVD drive that looks nice and is well set up in side for easy installation, I would be open to that if none of the cases I listed are that good.)

-Corsair 200R ($75)

-Antec three hundred two ($90)

-Antec Performance Series P7 Silent ($55)

-Cooler Master HAF 912 ($70) (seems like a quality case but really ugly)

What do you all think?

Seems like an excellent choice

RAM
-G.Skill Ripjaws V Series (2 x 8GB) ($69)

Yes

Storage
-Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 ($100)

I would pick Sabrent Rocket over this drive as Toshiba's BiCS 3D TLC NAND is a better choice than Intel QLC 3D NAND and the costs are roughly equal.

I watched a video comparing x570 VRMs and the conclusion was avoid MSI low cost boards, due to poor VRM thermal performance. The best ones are Asus TUF and Prime-P in the budget range.

Good choice. Consider Vega 56/64 with aftermarket cooling also.

Good quality PSU

Hard to pick a case for someone else

This case doesn’t have a dvd drive but going usb on that should be fine.
Completed a build last week, I’m really liking this case.
Very solid
Quiet
East to clean fans
Plenty of space to work in
Easy to hide cables
Built in fan hub
Magnetic front and top vents
On sale and it’s a fabulous price for it

Having myself an Asus Prime B450-Plus Im totally satisfied, also the Bios is really easy to manage even for not expert such as me.
Also having Fractal Design Meshify C im satisfied, a bit difficult with cable routing but was my first build. I finally found all the best routing with just a bit of trial and error. Cool with a second frontal fan.
Not sure why you need a 750w PSU. I totally agree about the quality but with even a Vega 56 (in my opinion Vega 64 it's a bit too thirsty) you didn't need more than a 550w if you didn't overclock so much. PSU are normally less efficient under light load.

I have a Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C , and it has space for a DVD drive. I got it because you can get it without a glass window. I didn't add a optical drive though.

It says minimum power requirement 750W on the front of the box my Vega 56 came in.

Interesting to know I always think was comparable with the 220W of mine old HD7950Boost. I used it with an i7, 3 disks, 320+220w PSU (one internal, one external) without any problem.
Looking at PCPartpicker estimate power consumption is 339W, so a 550W seems to be enough.
Looking at builds using Ryzen 3600 and Vega 56 all have a 650w PSU

Why go cheap & small on the power supply. A decent 750 model will be like $60
