Looking for advice on new monitor

My wonderful NEC XP21 (CRT) finally broke. I left it on for years usually; yesterday on a whim, I powered it off for the day, and last night it would not power up.

I love the monitor - the size is nice, the resolution, the bright vivid colors.

Options:

- Fix the monitor: $200 labor parts yet to be determined

- Buy a used HP Ergo 21" CRT $100

- Buy another new flat screen monitor, e.g., Dell 2405 or 3007

FYI, I also recently bought a Sceptre 42" LCD TV for combination TV and PC living room use, but it's not hooked up yet and I'm not sure how much it would be a primary monitor.

Use: Web, games

Any suggestions? I'm thinking about getting it fixed. It was originally over $2K to buy, and since I know I like it a lot...

Thanks, ya. I'm still at the bigger question of repair/other CRT/LCD - if LCD is the answer, then I'd pick one.

That list is limited to about 20", though.

I guess the NEC sounds ok, but there are complaints about the shiny screen; it's a bit ove $600, not cheap for a 20".

So, I'm looking for more info.

The Opticlear brings more benefits than cons. I thought I would hate it too as I always liked the antiglare that most LCD's are attributed with. I was wrong. The NEC is the best LCD as far as quality goes. It is pricey though.
