Looking for a wired router for Xbox 360...

I'm picking up an Xbox 360 before the year is over and would like to know which wired router you guys/gals would suggest. I have a cable modem and I'm using Win Vista Home Premium. Any help would be appreciated as I would like to have my network in place before I purchase the 360 so that I'm good to go on Live the minute I bring my new "baby" home. Thanks in advance!

Well, I'd recommend something that can run the Tomato or DD-WRT firmware. Wired performance should be similar between most routers you get, but these custom firmwares should allow you to run QoS, giving your 360 the most bandwidth.

I think just about any router should work fine. If you just have a PC you'll be using along side the 360, you shouldn't have any network issues.

I have no clue as to what you are referring to hans030390! 😱

I thought as much RaiderJ, but when you read about wired routers on MS's Xbox 360 site, it's easy to become 😕 IMO 😱

Still, does anyone here, either you or another member suggest a specific wired router? I so dislike returning items when a little research could save me the hassle and money.

DD-WRT

While DD-WRT has a great feature set, it's probably not a priority for just a simple wired connection. As long as ZH isn't doing massive downloading or torrents while playing, most any simple router should be OK.

I'd just pick up a router that does support DD-WRT (ie, Linksys and Buffalo routers) and flash it with DD-WRT later if needed. 😉
