Looking for a way... direct IP to IP transfer.....

Hi... I know that theres someone out here that can tell me.... Is there is a way to set up a direct file transfer between computers online? I'm looking for a simple way to connect 2 computers long distance (USA to Germany, for instance) to do a file transfer. I'd rather do it without the use of WinMX or KaZaa type of programs, or AIM or MSN messenger.... Isn't there a simple way to send a file to someone online?

ftp would be the old fashioned way

ftp = file transfer protocol

look at cuteftp, bulletproof ftp, some free ones

that's not a "direct client-to-client" method as it's called though, but it's probably good enough for you.
