I want to add a visor to my helmet, but haven't been able to find any such product.

I don't want to buy a new helmet... I just want to buy the visor accessory.

Motorcycle helmet??? Modifying your helmet would nullify and DOT or SNELL certification on it. As such, I do not believe this time of thing is common.

Also, try providing some information about what type of helmet you have instead of looking like a n00b with no info and a question.

its an older helmit, not unlike ones sold today, but no longer available i believe... ideally, one of you smart ATOTers will know about a universal visor kit or something like that.

Don't bother. They don't help at all. My helmet came with a visor, and I can barely even see the thing if I look up while I'm wearing it.

Many mtb helmets have a visor (I assume you're referring to the kind that just block a little sun and stick out from the front of the helmet a bit?). Like this?

I use my mtb helmet on both my mtb and road bike.

You do not know what you're talking about. there are plenty of open face helmets with attachable visors.

If you REALLY knew what you're talking about, you'd know that DOT approved helmets don't even have to have a visor, so "adding" one isn't goign to void jack.

SNELL approved helmets HAVE to be full-face helmets, thus it's impossible to ADD a visor, as one is already on it.

You should replace your helmet every few years anyway. Time to upgrade.

Seems like you are the one who is lost. Those helmets are designed to work with optional visors, it is a feature of the helmet. I am talking about if you take a helmet with no visor, that was not intended to have one, then MODIFY THE HELMET to accept an aftermarket visor. I am sure that goes over well with the DOT... "Oh, this visor? I drilled holes in my helmet, then I epoxied buttons into the drilled holes, the visor snapped right in!"

Go back to your training wheels please, thanks.

I realize that most (if not all) visors are sold with the helmet, and designed around the shape of the helmet, but I was hoping that someone knows about a 'universal' type.

Might be worth checking with a bike repair shop to see if anone borked a helmet and bought a new one- old dead helmet may have a salvagable visor.
