I'm looking for a program that I can use to keep my 5870 from going below the stock 850/1200 clock speeds when idle or running an incredibly easy 3D program. I tried MSI afterburner but it doesn't seem to be doing it.

Thanks in advance.

Nvidia control panel has an option to adjust power management mode for their GPUs giving an option for maximum performance even when non-demanding 3D apps are running. Does AMD not have the same feature in it's CCC?

There's nothing in the CCC for disabling it unfortunately. I installed ATI Tray Tools and it provides the functionality I was looking for.

when your card isnt doing anything/doesnt need most of its performance.... why not let it clock down? save yourself abit of $ on the electric bill?

The best way is to extract the bios, mod it and flash it back. No need for aftermarket apps....At least for me anyways :)

Why would you want it idling at full speed anyways?
