Looking for a thin, mobile laptop

This is mainly a work machine, text editing, excel, mat lab, music (will bring 5.1 system), movies, occasional gaming, cd-burning. Basically your normal college stuff. I would like to do some hardcore stuff like 3d rendering, but can live without that. What I DO need, though, is a laptop I can carry around - in other words no 2 inch thick monsters....

I can't afford a MacBook either... I know those are real slim... So in the PC world, where can I find a laptop that is nice and carry-aroundable? I've really only got three requirements:

1. At least a 1440x900 screen (15.4 in pref.)
2. 2g of RAM
3. Small

Any ideas?

Forgot to add that I work at HP so I get a pretty nice discount on HP lappys. How are HP laptops in general these days?

budget?

whatever u do, get the 2gb of ram on your own unless it's a free upgrade.

i have an hp dv2000t. it's been real good to me til yesterday. i'll be calling HP support today. i'll keep you updated on how that goes. hopefully it all goes for the best.
