Looking for a sound card

OSX

I'm looking for something with phono out and in. I would also like this to be relatively inexpensive, I don't want to spend more than sixty dollars. This is being hooked up to a 2.0 stereo, so massive surround sound is not an issue.

I too use *only 2 Channel Stereo and I'm just using the on-board sound from the karajan module on my DFI ultra-D
but I understand why a real soundcard is the way to go..

I avoid creative labs like the PLAGUE! Their Bloatware sucks.. Turtle Beach is the way to go..

Do you have any digital inputs on 'yer stereo? I don't here's my setup..

2 PSB alpha speakers on main sony a/v pro-logic reciever, 2 ol' school Acoustic HX-3's on ol' school Pioneer sx-626 tube/solid,

also 2 jvc fssd9's - one as center - one as rear - only using 2-ch from computer to feed sony 5.1 reciever that spits off center and rear when I play games/movies

SOUNDS KILLER!

Yea I love my PRO-LOGIC A/V reciever it's STILL the best BANG/BUCK imo...

I like pro-logic era (and older) stereo equipment better bec. they're so darn reliable!!

I only use the one rear for several reasons..
a. pro-logic doesn't have seperate L and R rear channel anyways..
b. cleaner room install/setup
c. able to take 2 extra stereo speakers and have matched center and rear sound!

center channel speaker (shielded) sit right on top of my 19" viewsonic Pro PF790 CRT
sounds great for voice in games and is moved on top of the TV when movies are output from vidcard..

I really enjoy this setup and love having comp/tv/stereo all on same wall of the room!

Sadly, digital inputs are out. I have an older receiver which only does analog. Thanks for the EMU tip BTW, I'll definately check that out because my father is very interested in music recording, and that will work very well. How does it sound for music and gaming and such?

I don't have one to personally comment, but I understand very good music playback but not so sure on gaming.

That's okay, games sound fine on Ac97 onboard. I am mainly concerned with the quality of music playback.

If you're gaming and want EAX effects you need to buy creative. If that doesn't matter then it's basically wide open.
