This is not a they will save up the money for center but more of a surround sound system to them is only worth around $400 - $500

Gotcha. You still may get more bang for the buck with 2 better speakers than 3 worse onces depending on the room layout.

You'll have a lot of issues in that price range. Most are going to be integrated products that will want to bypass your receiver and run on their own.

There aren't many that are a true array of L/C/R and the ones that are are $$$$$

One of the few I know of are the Phase Technology Teatro

yea pretty disappointing, not much competition, they are selling very little value for the amount of speaker they engineer into those things.

There's more to it than you think. They are three consolidated speakers each with their own crossover network and additional hardware to manipulate the sound reproduction. That particular one I linked uses one of the best silk dome tweeters available...times three...and high quality midrange drivers.

Plus you are paying the "WAF" premium of bing sleek and lowprofile.

i shoulda been more specific, not that one for 800 dollars, the 200-300 dollar ones have like 50 dollars worth of speaker in them.

Gotcha!

I'm not opposed to the soundbar concept. Especially the ones with the wireless subwoofers. They really are an "ok" stepup from the TV speakers for people that are electronically/space/wife format challendged.
