Looking for a song...OLD...70's

MichaelD

Lifer
I though it was "Please Come to Boston" but it's not.

It's one of those old "story songs. Years after losing the love of his life, etc, the guy is driving a cab. His old GF gets in, she's all dressed up and looking expensive. He drives her to her BFs house in the suburbs and she throws him a $50 bill and says "Harry, keep the change."

What song is this? Thanks.

/bows down repeatedly

Thanks guys!! I've been wracking my brain for days now...just couldn't find the song title.

/off to Amazon.com to download

Thanks again!!!

You're probably listening to that metal cover of Cats in the Cradle right now completely oblivious.

HC wrote imo the best folk lyrics ever:

I've had pretty women
In my day
Yeah those long haried beauties
Simply raining my way
I treat rotton
They just love me more
And when they gave me trouble
I just showed 'em the door
I'm a dirty old man
And I don't give a damn

70's rockers playing shows now in their 60's is what sucks.

I would be interested in what you consider the best music in the history of the earth.

Do you deny that any of the following had some great hits?

Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Blue Oyster Cult
Black Sabbath
The Doobie Brothers
The Eagles
Eric Clapton
Fleetwood Mac
Jim Croce
Harry Chapin
John Lennon
The Beatles
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Steve Miller Band
Bob Dylan

Add The Who... (Who's Next '71, Quadrophenia '73, at the very least)

In every decade the majority of the music sucked, but if you look you can also find some great stuff.

I would say that the opposite is true.
No one mentioned Yes in there, and while you're right, this is the decade that gave us The Starland Vocal Band ( Afternoon Delight) and Paul Anka (You're Having My Baby). We had some reeal stinkers.

"You're having my baby" was Paul Anka's attempt to regain relevance.

You must not be old enough to remember his sappy love songs of the 50's and 60's...

Every generation has its one-hit wonders and totally crappy bands. The 70's were no exception to that.
Don't forget...the 70's brought us DISCO!!
