Looking for a solid state mp3 player for the gym, have $30gc for amazon, trying to keep it <$100

I just applied for and got an amazon visa card, and with it came a $30 gift certificate, so it seems pretty logical to go from there.

The main model I'm looking at right now is the Creative Labs Muvo TX 256mb

it's 256mb, usb2.0, and I've also been wanting a jump drive and this one here has a removable piece that functions as a jump drive. At $82, it definitely fits within my price range.

I only really need 128mb as swapping music on and off isn't going to be an issue with me, I'm only using it for running and lifting 1-2 hours a day. The 256 in this case helps because it has the pen drive functionality, which I would definitely appreciate.

Walmart.com has the same product with an FM tuner built in for $97, amazon has it for $14x.xx, I submitted the price and we'll see what happens from there, FM would be nice, but not needed.

What I'm really after:

Solid state
Small size
preferably comes with an arm band
128mb+
PREFERABLY from amazon, unless I can get a steal elsewhere.
under $100, or under $130 if gotten from amazon, although, I'd like to spend as little cash as possible


Any other suggestions? It's been hard to find reviews and roundups of solid state mp3 players now that hdd ones are so popular.

What player did you end up going with? At $82 for the 256mb muvo, that seems like a steal, and $142 seems like an astronomical upgrade for FM capabilities... wallmart has the muvo TX 256mb FM for $97.96, but that must be a typo. .. if I could get the muvo TX 256mb FM for $97 that would be the way I would go for sure.

While I would seldmly ever use the tuner, it would be so nice for the occasional mix up and all that

I would maybe try pricematching instead of getting from Walmart... that CAN'T be the right price, everyplace else is $30+ more, and in fact wallmart has the 128mb FM muvo for $118.82, I find it hard to believe you'll recieve teh right item... but man, I'm tempted to do it too!

What you should do is go to Amazon and submit the lower price for it with the url like I did, maybe if enough people do it they will drop the price there on it.
 
There seems to be the "Creative Labs MuVo TX FM 256 MB MP3 Player" for $97.96, but a "Creative Labs NOMAD MuVo Slim 256 MB MP3 Player" for about $150, as well. One is a slimmer model than the other, I guess? Perhaps there is some confusion about which model is which. I know that I'm confused... 😕 😀
 
Is there an Mp3 player that doesn't come with its own flash memory that I could just stick my USB flash drive into?
 
the fm muvo tx 256mb is not a typo. I even bought one from the walmart down the street for the same price. It was the last one they had and I don't know if they were trying to clear out their stock or something, but they haven't restocked them yet. Might want to check out your B&amp;M walmart.

didn't know they made portable MP3 players with vacuum tube base memory. 😛

muvo2, ipod, and many more that have higher capacities such as 20gb, 40gb uses either a microdrive for a notebook harddrive that has moving parts.
 
Does the muvo TV with FM also have the ability to record FM broadcasts and then move them to your PC? Any other players do that?
