Looking for a small tripod

I'm looking for a small tripod (not a monopod!) that will fit in a camera bag. The bag I bought for my new DV cam is way too big, and I've got extra room in there. A tripod is always nice to have. Something no longer than 8" or so.

I know a tripod that size, collapsed, won't be very big when open. Don't care. Any tripod is better than none at all. 🙂

At that size, the best it will be able to do is simply hold the camera up on a nightstand or dresser. But maybe that's the point.

Thanks guys. I won't comment on the tripod's intended usage. 😀 And the midget is out. Threesomes with another guy ain't my thing. 😛

Seriously...I just want to have it in the bag for whenever. The bag is big enough to fit all the cords, 6 blank tapes and stuff. There's room for a small tripod too.

I've had this style of tripod...I never felt like I was any better off than just setting my camera down on a book or ledge.

I switched to the type with small, telescopic legs and am somewhat happier...

I've been using an older version of this tripod for twenty years. I've been very happy with it. At 12" folded, it is a little longer than your spec.
