Looking for a small laptop...

I'm looking for a little small laptop that performs well. I've been looking at the Old toshiba libretto. Here is an example of the libretto:

wouldnt necessarily get this particular one but its a good idea of what i'd get.

I'm also considering this Old sony Picture book which never really tookoff,
Most of the picturebooks had the crusoe processor which I have no idea to it's performance.
Example of what I might get (this model is a PII400mhz based): http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Vaio-Picturebo...6QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I'd say that those are a little TOO small. I've got a Sony PCG-R505GL. Its this one here:

It's small and very compact and light when it is off the docking station. I've had mine for about 2 and a half years now. I've since upgraded the memory to 640MB and added a 60GB 5400RPM hard drive. In fact, I'm downstairs in my house right now using it for typing this post. I use a PCMCIA Wireless Cisco card and it works fine 🙂. 2hrs+ of battery life.

IBM X22 PIII 800mhz, goes between $ 250-300, solid composite material, 12.1 " screen, and very light weight , My friend owns one and it's very tempting, for a lightweight web browsing / media laptop 😉

I've got a T42, Sony Vaio PCG F480 (also a 15" laptop), and a broken 12" laptop from 1997. I want a small cute little laptop just for e-mail, and other small things. I would likely be more inclined to bring the smaller laptops with me than my T42. I want to be able to get this laptop real cheap so...

I don't know what you meant to say here , but I am recommending the X22 as a very lightweight laptop, I see alot of students around my unviersity using the IBM X series most of them are either the X31 or the X22 series, very nice laptops and can be obtained for cheap of ebay.

I don't think I'm looking for a light laptop, I believe I'm looking for something that is small. I want something that takes up little realestate.
I was going to buy something like this:
http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/cdcinc/IBMThink755mar.jpg
but it turns out that apparently it's the same size (depth wise) as the one in this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
so that makes it a little pointless. I think the reason why is because the first laptop, the keyboard is shifted to the front while on the newer one, it's shifted to the back. Would have been nice if they could shift the keyboard to the back and cutoff the front to make it look like the first laptop (the older, slower one).

You might want to take a a look at the IBM ThinkPad 240/240X. It's just a bit smaller than the X22 (10.4" screen) and looks like it has less wasted space at the front. The WorkPad z50 also looks rather interesting, although it may just be too slow to be of any use today. For something really small, you might also want to check out some of the older HP Jornada palmtops.

That Sony is pretty cute.

Yea I remember back in 1998 I was at a compusa and I was checking out the laptop, seemed kind of fun but I never bought it. Well, now that it's a few years old, I hoped to be able to pick it up real cheap though at the current price, $500 seems a little outrageous for a laptop from 1999...
