I bought my parent's a Nikon Coolpix 3200 about 3 years ago and it's still making great pictures for them....

However the LCD is getting harder for them to see clearly :) esp during holiday drinking ;).

I was thinking of a SD450 like I bought my wife a couple years ago, but they are actually selling for more than I paid then.

Anyone have ideas? Doesn't have to be that high of MP...just be a simple and general snapshot camera.

I am open to other models, but since I am used to Canon (A620 and SD450, and my brother has the G6 and SD700IS); makes it easy to support my parent's when they are calling me from a cruise ship wanting to know something :)

I was looking at a Fuji E30? something, but needs xD cards....attractive price and reviews though.

Fujis don't get enough credit, but I would stick with the canon. Look into the SD630 if you think your parents want a larger LCD screen and might not use a viewfinder.

my mom ends up using the viewfinder now a lot of times because she can't see the screen so clearly. She does have no problem with the 2.5" screen on the SD450 though. That 3" screen is impressive...still I would like a viewfinder personally...I need to think about that for them.

I know SD600 is the "safe-bet" choice people will go with here.
But lately my gf's cousin got a Sony W50, and we compared it with my gf's SD600, and the W50 blows the socks off the SD600. The Sony is much sharper, better contrast, colors, and has better build quality too. Just looking at the lens coating just makes it a no brainer why the Sony's Zeiss lens would have better contrast. The reflection off the W50 is deep and minimal, while the canon had a clear reflection in comparison. This results in soft, washed out images, which you must admit, is a trademark of the SD series.
I thought the SD600 was an awesome little camera when I used it with my gf. Great skintones, nice out of the camera pictures, but after seeing the Sony W50, it's just no comparison.
The Fuji F30 is also supposed to be a winner, but I haven't had the chance to use it yet, so I cannot speak for it.
But the Sony W50 is a safe bet above the Canon SD600.

Yeah MS is a biatch, I hate it as much as anyone else.. but I surely wouldn't make it a deciding factor when the difference is that great.
