Looking for a simple tool that logs CPU usage data

I tried using perfmon but it seems very cumbersome and unpolished. I need to log CPU usage data on a server to see how bad usage is during peak times but also need it to be as simple as possible, any suggestions?
 
you can set up special logs on the server to track these sort of things, much better then software

EDIT: i think you can script some sort of log, i will try and find out from a friend of mine if you can.
